This is what we think when we develop products and treatments

When we started developing products with our R&D team in Zurich, we wanted to develop products that made a difference. When our founders explored the beauty industry in 2011, they asked themselves the question "Why is there nothing in between skin care products with a short-term effect and expensive often more complicated clinical treatments?".

“To schedule an appointment at a clinic is expensive, takes time and is geographically dependent. We wanted to change that!”. Our promise is to make it possible for anyone to make a real difference in their appearance. To have a visible effect and skin renewal, you need active ingredients that stimulate cell renewal. Each individual ingredient in our skin care products is carefully selected, and here we explain in detail what each ingredient does and why you should use it.

Hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid (HA, also known as glycosaminoglycan) is often praised for its ability to 'reverse' or stop the signs of aging. Despite the name ‘Hyaluronic acid’, it is not an acid but a moisture-binding sugar molecule that is found naturally in the skin. HA is a gel-like substance that has the ability to bind moisture up to 1000 times its own weight and acts as a moisturizing and filling material in the skin. HA maintains the moisture balance in the skin which promotes cell renewal.

HA is therefore a necessary ingredient and lack of HA in the skin leads to the skin losing its elasticity, becoming drier and wrinkles & fine lines becoming clearer.

Peptides are naturally occurring in the skin and help to start collagen production again. Peptides send a 'message' to your skin that it has lost collagen and needs to produce more. When peptides are applied externally, your skin believes that it is a collagen-degrading product and that your body needs to create new collagen. In other words, skin care peptides stimulate the natural production of collagen. Because peptides help increase collagen production, it makes the skin more elastic and supple.

Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C)

Is a form of vitamin C. With age, environmental factors and exposure to external elements will reduce collagen production in the skin, leading to wrinkles. Vitamin C is the only antioxidant that has been proven to stimulate collagen production, minimize fine lines, scars and wrinkles.

Alphatocopherol (Vitamin E)

Vitamin E, also called alphatocopherol, is a natural antioxidant that primarily protects lipids (fats in the body) cell membranes from oxidizing. In skin care, vitamin E is an oil that is absorbed into the skin and makes it soft and elastic. If you have dry skin, vitamin E works excellently as it strengthens the skin's resilience, protects the skin and prevents wrinkles & fine lines. The vitamin naturally works for all skin types and is often added to products for stretch marks and scars as it has a repairing quality.

Some effects that vitamin E has on the skin are that it protects the cells from free radicals (eg pollutants, cigarette smoke, UVA / UVB rays), strengthens the skin's moisture barrier, has an anti-inflammatory effect and increases the collagen product.

Retinol, Retinyl Palmitate and Tretinoin (Vitamin A)

Retinol is derived from vitamin A and is commonly found in anti-aging skin care products. Retinyl palmitate is another ingredient that is related to Retinol, but less powerful, making it a good choice for sensitive skin. Tretinoin is a stronger version of Retinol. Depending on your skin type, any one of the three can deliver excellent anti-aging results, such as reducing fine lines and wrinkles as well as improving your skin tone and texture.

They all work in a similar way: Vitamin A has a molecular structure that is small enough to penetrate into the lower skin layers, where you find collagen and elastin. The vitamin stimulates collagen and elastin production, which in turn can lead to a more elastic and soft skin as well as reduced visibility of wrinkles & fine lines. Retinol also increases the skin's cell renewal which can also reduce skin pigmentation caused by sun damage.

Niacinamide is the active form of vitamin B3 and has an active effect to improve the appearance of the skin, reduce wrinkles and retain moisture. Niacinamide strengthens the skin's barrier and elasticity and gives a smoother skin tone. Helps reduce enlarged pores and provides a lot of moisture.

Alpha hydroxy acids (AHA)

AHAs are glycolic acid, lactic acid, tartaric acid and citric acid. They are popular in anti-aging creams and serums due to its ability to reduce fine lines, hyperpigmentation, age spots and can reduce enlarged pores. The versatility of AHAs means that they are most often used in all types of skin care and deliver outstanding results. But one should be aware of the side effects, which can be included by mild skin irritation and sun sensitivity. It is always recommended to use sunscreen at all times, but especially important if your skin care product contains Alpha hydroxy acids.

Beta hydroxy acids (BHA, Salicylic acid)

BHA acids, short for Beta Hydroxy Acids, are a group of acids that use salicylic acid in skin care. BHA acid is fat-soluble and has anti-inflammatory properties that are perfect for oily skin, clogged pores or inflamed acne. What salicylic acid does is that it goes down into the pores and dissolves sebum with its exfoliating effect and removes dead skin and can therefore improve the skin's texture and tone from hyper-pigmentation and sun damage. Studies have shown that salicylic acid usually causes less irritation than alpha hydroxy acids, while providing similar improvements in skin structure and tone.

Glycerin is a natural ingredient found in vegetable and animal fats and oils. In skin care products, glycerin is used as a moisturizing substance due to its ability to absorb water vapor and to spread on the skin and form as a fluid reserve that helps to repair the top layer of skin. A great property of glycerin is to reduce acute irritation, improve elasticity and increase the penetration of other active ingredients. That is why glycerin is often added to various beauty products.
